Scope of work
We took over the development of OnMusic.fm from a previous vendor — a music platform for venues where the owner pays a single subscription to play music legally on the premises. The backend is built in NestJS and PostgreSQL with audio kept in S3 storage, the mobile app in Flutter, and the in-browser player in React. We now develop all three and keep adding features. The music is grouped into stations curated for specific trades — restaurants, beauty, fitness, world cuisines, and relaxation.
Features
- Project takeover — taking over the code and infrastructure from the previous vendor and developing the platform further.
- Curated stations — the catalogue grouped into stations that match the character of a venue.
- Offline mode — a whole station downloaded to the device, so the music keeps playing without a connection.
- Background playback — controlled from the lock screen and the system notification, with no need to keep the app in the foreground.
- Favourites — a personal track list, the same one in the mobile app and in the browser.
- Licence control — access to the catalogue expires together with the customer's subscription.
- Admin panel — managing customers and stations, plus bulk uploads of recordings.
- Web player — a React app serving the same music library with nothing to install.
